Confirmation Choir (Grades 7-9)

Confirmation Choir Schedule (click link to see schedule)

6pm, Monday nights.

Gary Thrasher leads new music group for 7th- 9th graders.    Being in this group is much more than just singing in a choir—It is a journey through the many ways that music can  be used in worship.  Those who play instruments will have the opportunity to be mentored in music making for the church, and we will even spend some time playing handbells.  We will provide musical offerings of all musical styles in worship about once each month, and we will spend some preparing to sing with Holy Commotion occasionally.  We will be performing in a musical theater production in May and a mini-tour that will take us through the Badlands of North Dakota in July.

Goals

  1. To join together to sing God’s praise in worship services and other events at Immanuel
  2. To learn and internalize scriptural and doctrinal concepts through study and rehearsal of sacred vocal and instrumental music
  3. To develop friendships in a Christian setting
  4. To participate actively in the Youth Ministry at Immanuel
  5. To improve vocal technique and develop range to sing in a wide variety of musical styles
  6. To improve music reading abilities
  7. Carry this ministry into the community

Program will include:

  •  Monday rehearsals at 6:00

                Vocal enrichment exercises

Rehearsal of sacred art music repertoire

Rehearsal of contemporary Christian music repertore

  • Musical offerings in worship about once per month (singing at various worship times)
  • Participation in the Eden Prairie Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
  •  Singing with the Youth Praise Band (Holy Commotion) at Confirmation Wednesday gatherings at least twice per year
  •  Participation in the church musical production of Noye’s Fludde on May 17
  • Participation in youth music tour of North Dakota and the badlands July 18-21
