What is Evangelism?
The Bible exhorts us to spread the seeds of Christ in our world, and in our church community! Jesus calls us to go fishing for souls: (Matthew 4:19) “Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of men”. Isn’t it interesting that he used fishing here? For when we fish we actively seek them out… go after ‘em. As our Pastor has said, “It doesn’t take any special talents or gifts to be an evangelist. We are merely required to share our faith with others and let the Holy Spirit work through us. And above all, let our actions speak for us!”
Your call to Evangelism
The Apostle Paul, in his writings to the people of Corinth, has some particularly clear instructions regarding Evangelism:
I) 3:8- The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
I) 12:3b No one can say "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
I) 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit.
