Your home is a church! Jesus lives in you and with you as Christian families! The Scriptures point to and affirm the home as the primary place where the Christian faith is to be taught, learned and practiced. When faith is gifted to children in baptism, their families respond to God’s gift by promising to teach the faith to their children and practice the faith as part of the wider church. Family life itself is also a key arena through which God shapes us as disciples and calls us to practice discipleship.
Confirmation Homework is a tool to support, nurture and develop faith-life in your home as you use the 4 Keys of Faith Formation. This tool is especially designed for families in our Confirmation ministry.
Why are we asking families to have devotions together? Because:
- The home is the primary center of faith formation! The time that you spend with your child reading and talking about God's Word will impact your child's faith!
- You can use this time to check-in with your child's highs and lows for day and engage them in caring conversation.
We ask that all Confirmation families:
- Keep praying that God will help you keep the Confirmation Homework devotional time as a priority in your family's schedule.
- purchase a devotional resource for use in your home (we have copies of a few recommended/suggested devotionals - like Kevin Johnson's "Total Devotion" - see below).
- complete at least 3 devotions each week.
- Begin with "Highs" and "Lows"
- Read a devotional
- Close with prayer (turn your highs and lows into thanks and asks)
- Sign and return the 4-6 week emails (for entry into a drawing for prizes and rewards) as directed.
I pray that this will be a positive family experience for you as you grow in faith together!
