Servant Song is the contemporary Christian worship band of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Performing under the direction of Judith F. Kozlicki, the group leads the church's 11:00 a.m. worship services on Sunday mornings as well as a variety of other services, including their high-spirited, Gospel-flavored, outdoor Tent Meeting Rally Day service held each September. Servant Song ensembles also perform for weddings, funerals, special intimate services, and Christmas celebrations.
Their repertoire includes the latest contemporary Christian praise and worship songs from a wide range of musical genres, including rock, country, gospel, acappella, updated and re-harmonized hymns, as well as acoustic and soft, contemplative music.
The Servant Song personnel roster currently features twelve musicians who perform in various combinations. Vocalists are trained in the same musical style to create a seamless flow of worship from week to week. Instrumentation includes drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars and keyboards, and an occasional guest violin. Current Servant Song members, by home community, include Jane Callister-Whitaker, Rob Kaufman, and Randy Moroney of Chanhassen; Joan Trieff of Chaska; Dave Espe, Shelley Germundson, Judy Kozlicki, Julie Maes, Karen Nelson, and Donna Richards of Eden Prairie; Todd Monge of Minnetonka; and Kerry Ness of Plymouth. Barb Savereide of Eden Prairie, concertmaster for the Metropolitan Symphony is a frequent guest artist. Stephen Hanson of HouseMouse Productions, Eden Prairie, handles sound engineering.
Servant Song CDs
This spring, Servant Song will release its first CD in what it hopes will become a CD Series reflecting the group's wide range of abilities and styles. Each will have the purpose of assisting a "greater cause." The Spring 2007 release, Songs of Faith, is a collection of faith-filled music that stirs the heart and encourages people in times of need. In addition to Servant Song members, the CD will feature guest performances by Immanuel Senior Pastor Paul Nelson (vocal) and Barb Savereide (violin). The proceeds from the sale of Songs of Faith will also benefit Bailey Faith Herfindahl, whose heartfelt journey has touched the group significantly.
